Summary:
Le pauvre demande un peu de pain pour ne pas mourir. Le mari compatissant demande à sa femme de le nourrir mais celle-ci refuse durement malgré les remarques du mari. – « Le blé est cher et on ne trouve pas de travail, donnez un morceau au pauvre qu’il vive. »
– « Si c’est moi qui commande ici, il n’aura pas le moindre morceau. »
Le mari va aux champs regrettant la mort du pauvre. Mais, par la justice de Dieu, sa femme meurt subitement. On attela trois chevaux pour tirer le cercueil, mais il était impossible de le déplacer. En ouvrant le cercueil on trouva un barbet noir et un chat. Un coup de tonnerre réduisit tout en cendres.
C’était le diable qui emportait son âme.
